Will of Thomas Constable Yeoman of Ockley 1652

 

 

In the name of God Amen the fifteenth day of January

in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hundred and fiftie I Thomas Constable of

Ockley in the Countie of Surrey yeoman being in good health and perfect memorye

praised be God therefore doe make and declare this my last will and Testameny in manner

and forme following First and principally I commend my soule unto Allmighty God

my Maker and Creator and my boy to the Earth from whence it came to be buried in

the Churchyard of Ockley aforesayd at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named

Item I give to the poore people of Ockley aforesayd Twenty shillings to be paid and

distributed unto the sayd poore of Ockley uppon the day of my buriall Item I give

and bequeath all that my Messuage garden and Orchard situate lying and being in

the West streete of the Towne of Dorkinge in the sayd County of Surrey now in the

occupation of Thomas Browne or of his Assignes unto Margarett my wife and her

Assignes for and during the tearme of her naturall life and from and after the

decease of the sayd Margarett my wife I give and bequeath the aforesayd Messuage

Garden and Orchard unto William Constable my Grandchild sonne of William

Constable late of Ockley aforesayd deceased his heyres and assignes

forever to have and to hold the sayd Messuage Garden and Orchard deedes writings

and evidence thereof from and immediately after the decease of the sayd Margaret

my wife unto the sayd William Constable my Grandchild his heyres and Assignes

for ever Item I give and bequeath unto Richard Constable my sonne all such my house-

hold stuffe anf goods as now is and shalbe at my decease standing and being

in the house where he sayd Richard now dwelleth in Dorkinge aforesayd called

Moorers Item I give and bequeath unto the sayd Richard Constable my sonne forty

pounds of lawfull money To bee paid unto the sayd Richard Constable

my sonne within sixe moneths next after my decease Item I give and bequeath

unto Joane Stillwell and Jane Trigg my daughters five pounds apeece of lawfull

money of England To be paid unto the sayd Joane and Jane my daughters

within sixe moneths next after my decease

(inserted) I give unto the fower children

of the sayd Richard Constable my

sonne foure? shillings apeece to

bee paid unto them withing six

months next after my decease

Item I give unto the three children of the

sayd Joane Stilwell my daughter and

unto the three three children of the sayd Jane

Trigg my daughter Twenty shillings apeece of lawfull money of England to be

paid unto the children of the sayd Joane and Jane my daughters within sixe

months next after my decease

Item I give unto the sixe children of John Greenfeild my sonne in Lawe Forty shillings appeece To bee paid

unto them within sixe moneths likewise next after my decease Item I give and

bequeath unto Thomas Constable and Jane Constable my Grandchildren hee

of my sayd sonne William Children deceased twenty pounds apeece of lawfull

money of England to be payd unto the sayd Thomas and Jane Constable my

Grandchildren with sixe moneths next after my decease Item I give and bequeath

unto Barbery Constable my Grandchild thirty pounds of lawfull money of England

to be paid unto the sayd Barberye my Grandchilde within sixe moneths next

after my decease

(inserted) Item I give to Susanna Constable

my Grandchilde Tenn pounds of

lawfull money of England to be

paid unto the sayd Susanna

Constable my Grandchild within

sixe moneths next after my decease

Item I give and bequeath unto Margarett Constable my Grand-

child daughter of Nicholas Constable my late sonne deceased thirty pounds

of lawfull money of England To bee paid unto the sayd Margarett Constable my

Granchild when she shall accomplish the age of one and twenty yeares or day of

her marriage the which of them shall first happen and to me next after my decease

Item I give to George Palmer Twenty shillings Item I give all the rest of my

servants which shalbe liveinge with mee at my decease three shillings and fower

pence apeece All the rest of my goods and houshold stuffe bonds and Annuities

I give and bequeath unto the said Margaret my wife which Margaret my

wife I make appoint and ordayne sole Executrix of this my last will and
Testament And shee to take my debts and pay my debts and legacies

and performe this my last will and Testament in all points Alsoe I nomi-

nate and appointe Richard Margesson thelder and William Margesson to be

overseers of this my last will and Testament instrusting them to to assiste my sayd

Executrix in the due execution hereof In witnes whereof I the sayd Thomas

Constable have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first at the

beginning hereof written Thomas Constable Published sealed and delivered

in the p[rese]nts of John Steere William Margesson

 

This Will was proved at London before S[i]r Nathaniell Brent Knight

Doctor of Laws and Master or Keeper of the Prerogative Court the seaventh day

of May in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand sixe hundred fifty two by the

Oath of Margarett Constable the Executrix therein named To whome Admi-

nistration of all and singular the goods  chattells and debts of the sayd deceased

which any manner of way concerne the same will was granted and committed

Shee being first legally sworne by virtue of a Commision in that behalfe issued

forth well and truely to Administer the same
