Warboys, Oundle & Godmanchester

I visited these on 17th May 2008. I found not mention of any of my ancestor’s names in the churchyards at any site.

Warboys    Oundle    Godmanchester

Oundle is an attractive market town, the buildings in the centre being of sandy-coloured local stone. The Market Place area is very small, and adjoins West Street to the West. At the junction, New Street leads of to the north. The Church s just behind. While there I definitely established that the location of the watchmaker’s had been where the Blue Marlin fish and chip shop currently is. It seems certain that it was not been in exactly the same location throughout its existence. I called at Oundle Clock Shop in West Street, where a clock made by George Wyman Clarke was in evidence. The shop carried many old clocks and did repairs. They were familiar with the history of the local business, and confirmed that Staffurth Clarke took over from Beale’s.
