Will of Mary Chitty of Witley 1720



In the name of God amen I Mary Chitty of Witly in the County of Surry

Widdow doe make my last Will and Testament as followeth first I comend

my Soule to God, hopeing to be saved by the death of Jesus Christ my

Redeemer. and I doe order my body to be decentlu buried, and

Concerning my Temporall Estate,  I give and devise to my daughter

Lettiss Chitty the some of five pounds & no more abd I give and

bequeath unto my daughter An: Chitty the some of fifty pounds

to be paid to them by my son William Chitty within : 18 months

after my decease, over & besides : sutch portions & Legacies as are

appoynted, and given to them : by my late Husbands Will, Iteme

I give to my said son William Chitty and his heires the House

and Maulthouse: standing in Godalming in the said County, late

Michaell Greenes, which I lately purchassed of one Collery and John

Mortimore to Hold to him the said William Chitty his heires & Assignes

for ever Yeat nevertheless I doe Will and subiect the said p[re]misses: to

the payment of my debts & Legacies, in case my p[er]sonall Estate shall

not be sufficient to pay the same, and after my debts Legacies and

funerall Expences & charges are paid, I doe Will & devise the said

House Maulthouse & all thereunto belonging and all other my

personall Estate goods & Chattells to my sais son William Chitty and

I doe nominate & Appoynte my said son William Chittty to be

Sole Executor of this my last Will &c: and I doe desire my Son

in Law John Tuesely and my eldest son John Chitty to be

overseers of this my Will, to see the same p[er]formed : In:Witness

whereof I the said Mary Chitty have hereunto sett my Hand

and seale the three & twentith day of January in the third

yeare of the Reigne of King George over great britane &c

Anno Dom: 1716

Signed sealed published & declared

by the said Mary Chitty, to be her last Will

& Testament in the presens of us whoe

subscribed our hands in the p[re]sence of

the Testator &c:

memorand: the word pounds in ye 6th line was

written before the sealing hereof & afterwards
