Will of Margaret Constable of Ockley widow 1653 |
In the Name of God Amen the Two and Twentieth
day of September In the yeare of our Lord God One thousand Six hundred Fifty and two I Margarett
Constable of Ockley in the County of Surrey Widdowe being sicke in body, but of perfect minde and
memory praised be God therefore, doe make and declare this my Last Will and Testament in manner and
forme followeing First and principally I comend my soule into the hands of Almighty God my maker
and Creator, and my body to the earth from whence it came to be buried in the Church yard of Ockley aforesaid
At the discretion of my Executors hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto the poore of Ockley
afforesaid Tenn shillings to be paid and distributed unto them At the discretion of my Executors hereunder
named Item I give and bequeath unto Joane Stillwell my daughter Twenty Pounds of lawfull money
of England Item I give and bequeath unto the same Joane Stillwell my daughter my best Feather bed
my best Coverlet my best Blanckette, which hath a blew lise in him, one Lincy Wolsey blankett, my best
Feather Boulster, one paire of my best Tyre sheetes two paire of Towen sheetes, my best Table Cloth;
one paire of Holland pillowe Coates one paire of Tyre pillowe Coates, two Feather pilloweberes, one duzen
of Napkins, w[hi]ch hath blewe streakes shott in them by the Weaver, one silver spoone, halfe a duzen of pewter
platters, one pewter Candlestick, and one saltceller still Item I give and bequeath unto the three
Children of the said Joane Stillwell my daughter Twenty Shillings apeece Item I give and bequeath unto
Jeane Trigg my daughter Five pounds of Lawfull money of England, to be paid unto the said Jane my daughter
within six monethes next after my decease Item I give unto the said Jane Trigg my daughter two paire
of Towen sheetes, one Tablecloth, one silver boule, one pewter Flagon and three small pewter platters, and
my holland sheete Item I give and bequeath unto the three children of the said Jane Trigg my
daughter Tenn shillings apeece Item I give and bequeath unto Barbery Constable my
Grandechild Tenn pounds of lawfull money of England to be paid unto the said Barbery my
Grandchild when shee shall accomplishe the age of one and Twenty yeares Item I give unto the
said Barbery Constable my Grandchild one Feather bedd, one Flock bedd, two Blanketts, one Coverlite, one Feather
bolster, one Flock bolster, Two paire of sheetes, one Tablecloth halfe a duzen of fine Napkins, and halfe
a duzen of Course Napkins, my grate Joynd Chest standing in the Kitchen Chamber, Fower pewter
platters, one pewter Candlestick, one saltceller, and one paire of Tyre pillowe Coates, Item I give
abd bequeath unto Annis Constable my Grandchild Twentie shillings, and one pewter platter,
Item I give and bequeath unto Susana Constable my Grandchild one paire of sheetes Item
I give to the said Susana Constable Tenn pounds to be paid unto the said Susana, at her age of
one and Twenty yeares, Item I give and bequeath unto the Five children of Richard Constable,
my sonne Tenn shillings apeece Item I give and bequeath unto Annis Greenefeild my Goddaughter
on of the daughters of John Greenefeild my sonne in Lawe Tenn shillings, one paire of Sheetes, three
pewter platters, and one pewter Candlestick. Item I give and bequeath to the other Five
Children of the said John Greenefeild my sonne in Law Tenn shillings apeece Item I give and bequeath
bequeath unto Margarett Constable my Grandchild my late sonne Nicholas Constable Daughter
Tenn shillings Two paire of Towen sheetes, one paire of Tyre sheetes halfe a duzen of Napkins, two pewter
platters and a pewter Candlestick Item I give and bequeath unto Thomas Constable, Jane
Constable and William Constable my Grandchildren my late sonne William Constable three Children
to each of them one pewter platter, All the rest of my goods and Chattells, whatsoev[er] unbequeathed
mt debts being paid and my funeral expenses discharged, I give and bequeath unto John Stilwell
my sonne in Law, and unto Richard Constable my sonne, which John Stilwell my sonn in Law and
Richard Constable my sonne I make appoynt and ordayne sole and joynt Executors of this my last
Will and Testament, and they to take my debts, and pay my debts and Legacies, and p[er]forme this
my last Will and Testament in all poynts as my trust is in them soe they will In witnes
Whereof I the said Margarett Constable have to this my last Will and Testament, sett my hand and
Seale the day and yeare first above written / Maragarett Constable her mark, Published Sealed
and deliv[er]ed in the p[re]sence of Richard Margesson William Margesson
This Will was proved at Westm[inste]r the third day of May in the yeare of our Lord god one
thousand Six hundred fifty three before the Judges for probate of Wills and graunting Ad[minis]t[rati]ons
according to an act of Parham entitled an Act for Probate of Wills and graunting Ad[minis]t[rati]ons, by the
oathes of John Stilwell and Richard Constable the sonne and Executors named in the said Will
to whom Ad[minis]t[rati]on was Comitted of all and Singuler the goods Ch[att]ells and debts of the said deceased
they being first legally Sworne faithfully to Administer the same &c
