Will of John Wright of Winkfield 1648

 

 

In the name of God Amen; The

eleaventh day of december Anno dni 1648 and in the foure and twentieth

yeare if the raigne  of our soveraigne Lord Charles by the grace of God of

England Scotland France and Ireland king defender of the faith &c I John

Wright of Winkefeild thelder in the county of Berks yeoman being weak

in bodie but in perfect minde & memorie for the wch I yeild most hearty and

humble thankes unto allmighty god therefore doe ordaine and make this my

last will and testament in manner and form following First and principally

I committ my soule to almighty god thorough whome by the merrits of Jesus

Christ I trust to be saved And my body to be buried in such decent sorte

as becometh a Christian; And concerning such goods and Chattles as

god hath here bestowed upon me I doe give bequeath and devise them as

followeth Impromis I doe give and bequeath unto Joane my wife Fortie

shillings of lawfull money of England to be payed unto her within one

weeke next after my decease Item I doe give and bequeath unto John

Wright my grandchild one hundred pounds of lawfull moneay of England

to be payed unto him at two and twenty yeares of age with this Condicon

that Johane my said wife doe suffer and permitt John Wright my sonne

quietky to enjoy and possesse the house with the appurtennes wherein I

now live; and yf my sayd wife shall disinherit my said sonne of the

premisses aforesaid Then my will is that my said grandchilde shall

have but fyve pounds at the age aforesaid Moreover my will is that

Johan my said wife shall have ten pounds a yeare dureing her nrall lyfe

or fyve pounds a year and her dyett. Item I doe give and bequeath

unto Jane my daughter three pounds of lawfull money of England to be

payed unto her within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and

bequeath unto her six children Fortie shillings a peece to be payed unto

them as they come to age Item I give and bequeath unto the five Children

of Elizabeth my daughter fortie shillings a peece to be payed unto them likewise

as they come to age Item I doe give unto my sister Cicely Dunt twelve

shillings yearly dureing her nrall life. Item to John Dunt and to his sonne

being my godsonne fyve shillings a peece And to William Dunt fyve

shillings And to his sisters Susan and Johan ten shillings a peece And to Robert

Kinge fyve shillings And to Isabell his sister twenty shillings to be payed

unto them within one yeare next after my decease Item I doe give & bequeath

unto the two daughters of my said sonne John Wright Hannah and Mary three

pounds a peece to be payed unto them as they come to age All the residue of

goods Chattles and household stuff not herein before by me given or bequeathed

my funerall expences being discharged and this my last will & testamt in all

things duly performed I doe wholly give bequeath to my said sonne John Wright

whom I doe ordayne and make my sole executor of this my last will

and testamt In witnes whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seale the
