Will of John Platt, Mason of Haughton, Lancashire 1764

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Platt

of Haughton in the Parish of Manchester in the County of Lancaster

Mason, made and Published this Fifth Day of June in the Second Year

of the Reign of Our Sovereign Lord George the third by the Grace of

God King of Great Brittain France and Ireland Defender of the Faith

and so forth, and in the year or our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred

and Sixty two. First I Give and Bequeath to Sarah My Wife the use of all

and Singular My Goods Chattles Credits ready Monies and Monies at

Interest upon any kind of Securities whatsoever or and all other my Personal

Estate whatsoever and wheresoever to be by her used and Enjoyed during

her Life untill her Marriage again after My Decease, but not to make

any Wast or Consumption of the same reasonable wear excepted, And

from and after the Death and Decease, or Second marriage of my said

Wife, which shall first happen, I Give and Bequeath all my said Goods

Chattells, Cattle, Husbandry Wares, Credits, Monies at Interest or otherwise

owing upon any kind of Securities Contract or otherwise and other My

Personal Estate whatsoever or wheresoever to my Daughter Hannah

Sydebotham Widow, my Daughter Mary wife of Samuel Knight, and to

My Son in Law John Swindells Equally Share and Share alike, And my Will

and Mind is that if my wife shall happen to Marry again, after My

Decease, She shall have no benefit, Share or Interest in My said Personalty

Goods, Chattells or other Effects, but shall thereof and therefrom

be for ever Debarred and Excluded (as far as the Law admitts) in all

cases and to all intents and Purposes, And my further Will and Mind

is that my just and Lawfull Debts, which I shall owe at the time of

My Decease (if any) My Funeral Expenses and the Charge of the Probate

of this my last Will and Testament, shall be paid, and done at the Discretion

oversight and Direction of My Executors hereafter named, and of My

Personal Estate And Lastly I hereby Nominate and Appoint my

said daughter Hannah Sydebotham, and My two Sons in law John

Swindells and Samuel Knight to be Executors of this My last Will

and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto Sett my hand

and Seal the Day and Year first above written
