Will of Hannah Hodges of Dymock 1797 widow

 

 

In the Name of God Amen I Hannah

Hodges of the Leadington in the Parish of Dymock in the County of

Gloucester Widow being of sound Mind Memory and Understanding do make my

last Will and Testament in manner following First I give and bequeath to my Son,

William Hodges the sum of Five Pounds of lawful money of Great

Britain to be paid to him his Executors Administrators and Assigns by my

Executrixes hereinafter named at the End of Six Calendar Months next after

my decease Also I give and bequeath to my Son Joseph Hodges the like

Sum if Five Pounds of like lawful money to be paid to him

his Executors Administrators and Assigns and the End of Six Calendar

months next after my decease by my Executrixes Also I give and bequeath to my

Daughter Hannah now Wife of William Hill the Sum of Five Pounds of

like lawful money to be paid - - - - - - to her, her Executors Administrators

and Assigns at the End of Six Calendar Months next after my decease by my

Executrixes Also I give and bequeath to my said Daughter Hannah

one Gold Ring and one Silver Table Spoon to be delivered to her

immediately after my decease Also I give and bequeath to my Daughter Mary Wife

of Joseph Stephens the Sum of Ten Pounds of like lawful money to be paid

to her, her Executors Administrators and Assigns at the End of

Six Calendar Months next after my decease by my Executrixes. Also

I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah wife of Thomas Legeyt the Sum of

Twenty Pounds of like lawful money of Great Britain. Also I give and bequeath

to my said daughter Sarah, a Three Pound twelve piece Gold coin

And also my best Bed Bolster Pillows Bedstead and Hangings in

the Parlour Chamber, also my best Bed Quilt my Tea Board, Tea Chest, half a

Dozen Silver Tea Spoons marked with an H, my silver Goblett, half a

Dozen China Cups and Saucers, Two China Basons and all my

Wearing Apparel of every sort and kind. And it is my Will desire and

meaning that the Legacys herein given and bequeathed to my daughters

                                                                                                shall and

 

 

shall and may not be subject to the control Debts or engagement

of their respective Husbands, but that the receipt and receipts of my Daughters alone

without their respective Husbands notwithstanding their Coverture shall be

good and sufficient discharges for the Legacys herein given and

bequeathed to them respectively And Lastly I Give and bequeath

all and singular the rest residue and remainder of my money and securitys

for money Goods Chattels Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto

 my four daughters Elizabeth Mary Nancy and Sarah in equal shares and

Proportions Subject to the Payment of all my just Debts Legacys and Funeral

Expences and the Expence of proving this my Will, and I do hereby nominate

constitute and Appoint my said Daughters Elizabeth Nancy and Sarah

joint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament, And I do hereby revoke and

make void all former and other Wills by me heretofore made In

Witness whereof I the said Hannah Hodges the Testatrix, have to this my Will

set and subscribed my hand and Seal this thirteenth _ day of June

in the thirty second Year if the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George

the third by the Grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King

Defender of the Faith and so forth, and in the Year of our Lord One Thousand

seven hundred and ninety two.

Richard by Divine permission Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Gloucester

& of his Episcopal Consistory Official Principal Lawfully Constituted

by Elizabeth wife of Thomas Dance Nancy wife of Thomas Hooper

and Thomas wife of Thomas Legeyt The Daughters and joint Executrixes
