MOUNT POCONO, PA. - A man who was known to walk everywhere was found dead Monday near railroad tracks in Monroe County, officials said.

William S. Holmes Jr., of Mount Pocono, was discovered by a hiker about 10 feet from the tracks on Phoebe Snow Road around 3:45 p.m., the county's coroner, Bob Allen, said.

It appears Holmes, 68, tripped over a log and impaled himself when he fell into heavy brush, Allen said.

The body had been there for several days and was frozen solid, said Allen, who noted that a forensic autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday to determine the cause of death.
